Beeswax Candles & Pure Beeswax

From our bees to your home — pure beeswax candles handmade in Dorset using wax from our own hives. Beeswax is one of nature’s oldest and most beautiful light sources, burning with a warm golden flame and releasing a gentle honey aroma that cleans the air and lifts the atmosphere.

Each candle is poured by hand using traditional techniques, pure cotton wicks and quality moulds. Beeswax candles burn cleanly, often drip-free, with excellent burn times — see individual listings for average durations and tips for the perfect burn.

For makers and crafters, we also supply blocks of 100% natural Dorset beeswax — ideal for candle making, wood finishing, leather care, beeswax wraps and other traditional uses. A sustainable, natural product created by our own bees on the Jurassic Coast.

Benefits & Care of Beeswax Candles

Beeswax candles burning cleanly

Benefits of Beeswax Candles

Beeswax candles help to clean the air by releasing negative ions that bind with pollutants. They’re especially useful in kitchens or rooms where odours develop. Unscented with only a slight natural honey aroma, and paired with pure cotton wicks, our beeswax candles burn clean and pure.

Environmental Responsibility

As beekeepers, the environment is central to everything we do. We only ship in recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible. Paper wrap is our first choice, and when we need extra protection, we use re-usable airsacs. Looking after the environment goes hand in hand with looking after our bees.

How to use beeswax candles

How to Use Beeswax Candles

Burn Time: Beeswax burns longer per gram than paraffin or soy. Always burn on a heatproof, level surface.

Lighting: On first light, flames may appear large but settle after 5–10 minutes.

Initial Burn: Burn for around 4 hours to form an even melt pool and prevent tunnelling.

Extinguishing & Relighting

Extinguish using a candle snuffer to minimise smoke. Before re-lighting, trim the wick to 6 mm for an even flame and reduced dripping.

Beeswax & Candle FAQs

Quick answers about our Dorset beeswax and candles — from clean burning and care to crafting and wraps.

Are beeswax candles better than soy or paraffin?

Beeswax burns bright and clean with a gentle honey scent. It’s paraffin-free, renewable, and produces very little soot when properly trimmed.

Do beeswax candles clean the air?

When burned in stable conditions, beeswax candles release negative ions that can help neutralise odours and airborne pollutants for a cleaner indoor atmosphere.

Why does the colour vary between candles?

Beeswax shade depends on the flowers and pollen our bees forage — ranging naturally from pale gold to deep amber.

Are your candles scented?

No added fragrance — just the gentle, natural aroma of Dorset honey and wax straight from the hive.

How should I burn and care for beeswax candles?

Trim the wick to 5–7 mm before lighting, let pillars form a full melt pool, and avoid drafts. Always burn on a flat, heatproof surface.

What can I use pure beeswax for?

Beeswax is incredibly versatile — use it for candle making, wood and leather polish, waterproofing, and natural cosmetics like balms and creams.

Is your beeswax 100% natural?

Yes — it’s filtered twice through cotton muslin to remove hive debris, but never bleached or chemically treated. Each batch retains its natural scent and colour.

Can I use your beeswax for food wraps?

Absolutely. Our beeswax is food-safe and perfect for DIY reusable wraps — simply melt and mix with a little pine resin and jojoba oil.

Where does your beeswax come from?

All wax is produced by our own colonies in Dorset — a by-product of honey harvesting from hives foraging across the Jurassic Coast.

How should I store beeswax blocks?

Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Beeswax lasts indefinitely and may form a light bloom on the surface — this is natural and can be polished away easily.
